This was the only place in my yard that was large enough to assemble it. Even then I had to extend it a few inches into the flower bed. The arm was so long that I couldn't fire it because it would swing and hit a wall next to where I was standing to take the picture.
The close end of the arm contains 1200 pounds of lead and 300 pound of mounting steel.
The base is made of 8"x8"x8' beams which were also used for part of the arm.
A key part of engineering this was to make it something I could assemble, disassemble and fire without any help, as I neither had nor wanted any.
