This drawing started from a Life Drawing Studio session on 25 April 2002 in which the model was an older gentleman named Marion. I felt pretty good about the drawing that I started. By "started" I mean that my usual approach is to try to get down as much of the model and shading as needed to later refine and finish the figure after the too short model sessions. In this case, I was able to complete a rather good drawing of Marion. The problem then was that I had no background -- just the figure. So I decided to try to create a background that would also explore my interest in doing a series of paintings on mythology themes. Thus came about this drawing which I may one day translate into a painting.
